The act of photographing

Just after leaving school I bought a used camera, a Praktica LTL, with a Weston light meter. A few weeks later and I was hooked, though I didn't really know why. Living in coastal Suffolk (UK), I'd take my camera to the beach and into the countryside, shooting just about anything that caught my eye, including random flotsam and jetsam.

After years of trial and error - and reading copious photography magazines - I learnt a few things that helped me progress from haphazard snaps to considered images. But I still didn't fully understand what the attraction was.

Only recently I finally realised: while the resulting images are important, it's being outside in all weathers and the act of photographing that I enjoy most.

Take a look at some of my recent ramblings.
